Pre-Treatment Instructions
1. Discontinue Accutane 6 months prior to treatment.
2. Discontinue use of Retinoic Acid products 2 weeks prior to treatment.
3. Avoid sun exposure, or the use of tanning beds for four to eight weeks (dependant your skin type), and self-tanners for at least four weeks, prior and/or in between IPL treatments.
4. Report all skin diseases, viruses, infections, cold sores, eczema or allergies to treating Clinician.
5. Do not exfoliate, use glycolic acid, benzyl peroxide or any other skin irritants one week prior to IPL treatments.
6. Avoid microdermabrasion, or peels for two weeks prior to treatment.
7. If the skin is red, irritated or sunburned, the IPL treatment must be rescheduled.
8. Report all medication taken within two weeks of the treatment.
9. Avoid depilating for at least 6 weeks prior to your first treatment. Do not depilate with: waxing, sugaring, plucking, threading or hair removal creams before and/or in between IPL treatments. Shaving is permitted and recommended.
10. Discontinue using bleaching creams for 2 weeks prior to treatment and perfumed products (eg. Aromatherapy oils/Essential oils) for 48 hours before treatment.
11. Do not use sun blocking creams within 12 hours of scheduled treatments. Consider wearing protective clothing, cotton gloves for driving, or a hat to protect facial areas.
12. Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water immediately before an IPL session.
13. Please shave the areas that will be treated prior to arrival. For beards and bikini’s please shave how you would like your remaining hair to look post treatment.
Post-Treatment Care
1. Avoid direct sunlight, tanning beds or self-tanners for at least 2-3 weeks after a treatment. Apply Sun Protective Cream of SPF 50+, 15 minutes prior to sun exposure, and 15 minutes afterwards. Keep reapplying as needed throughout the day. Consider using protective cotton gloves for driving, a hat to protect facial areas.
2. If there are scabs or blisters, make-up should not be used for 3-4 days.
3. Avoid touching, rubbing, peeling or picking of the skin in treatment area, as this may cause hyper/hypo pigmentation, scarring or infection.
4. Gently apply pure Aloe Vera gel or antibiotic ointment to the treated area, twice daily until healed and dry.
5. A “cold pack” may be placed over the treated area to reduce swelling and/or discomfort for the first 2-3 days. Discomfort is usually minimal but pain medication can also be taken for pain and swelling if required
6. For 48 hours post treatment, avoid: hot baths, showers, hot tubs and saunas.
7. When showering and washing, gently pat dry and do not rub.
8. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours following clinical treatment.
9. Avoid swimming in strong chlorinated water 24 hours after an IPL session.
10. Avoid applying skin oils and heavily scented products to treatment areas for at least 48 hrs.
HOT AND HUMID WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN AGGRAVATE SKIN IN THE PERIOD IMMEDIATELY BEFORE AND AFTER TREATMENT.

7. Avoid microdermabrasion or peels for two weeks prior to treatment (notify treating practitioner if these kinds of treatments have been performed within 3 weeks prior to treatment).
8. If the skin is red, irritated or sunburned, the Laser treatment must be rescheduled.
9. Report all medication taken within 2-3 weeks of the treatment.
10. Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours prior to the clinical treatment.
11. Avoid alcohol 48 hours prior to treatment.
Post-Treatment Care
1. Cool the area immediately following the treatment for 15-20 minutes with a sterile cold compress/ice pack.
2. Apply a generous amount of healing ointment/ soothing cream/ soothing gel over the treated area.
3. Dress treatment area with sterile gauze, held on by medical tape.
4. Cool area as needed in the following hours.
5. Keep area covered for 24-48 hours (avoiding any debris/perfumes etc.).
6. Avoid: touching, rubbing, scratching, picking, or any friction in the treatment area as this may result in hypopigmentation, hyperpigmentation, infection or other undesired effects such as scarring.
7. Keep the area clean (antibiotic ointment/Polysporin may be applied).
8. Avoid any exposure to sun or artificial tanning for a minimum of 2 weeks post treatment. SPF of at least 30 should be applied, and reapplied every two hours as necessary.
9. Avoid any activity/environment which could cause excessive heat or perspiration (i.e.: fitness, vigorous cleaning, etc) 24 prior to treatment and for 48 hours post treatment.
10. Avoid hot baths/hot showers/hot tubs or anything similar for one week post treatment.
11. When showering use cool water, and gently pat dry – do not rub the treated area.
12. Baths, hot tubs, swimming pool, or any form of soaking are not recommended until all blistering and scabbing are completely healed, as they may increase the risk of infection.
13. Avoid chlorinated water (swimming pools) 24 hours pre/post treatment.
14. Avoid alcohol 48 hours pre/post treatment.
15. Should the treatment area be tanned/irritated prior to the treatment- further treatment WILL BE RESCHEDULED
16. Avoid applying skin oils and heavily scented products to treatment areas for at least 48 hrs.
HOT AND HUMID WEATHER CONDITIONS CAN AGGRAVATE SKIN IN THE PERIOD IMMEDIATELY BEFORE AND AFTER TREATMENT
Pre-Treatment Instructions

4. Report all skin diseases, viruses, infections, cold sores, eczema or allergies. If you have a history of herpes simplex virus or shingles the treatment may cause an outbreak. Consider using prophylactic antiviral treatment 24 hours prior to your treatment.
5. Do not exfoliate, use glycolic acid, benzyl peroxide or any other skin irritants for one week prior to treatment.
6. Discontinue using bleaching creams for 2 weeks prior to treatment and perfumed products (eg. Aromatherapy oils/Essential oils) for 48 hours before treatment.

Post Treatment Care
Day 1 - You will be feeling a mild to moderate burning sensation with mild redness over the next few days, similar to a sunburn, or rug burn. You may have some areas of pinpoint bleeding, especially with more aggressive treatments. If bleeding occurs ensure you are keeping the areas clean and consider applying a non-oil based antibiotic ointment at the discretion of your physician.
1. Apply cold cloths, or cold packs for no longer than 10 min at a time as needed if your skin is feeling uncomfortable due to the heat.
2. Apply soothing creams or gels such as Aloe. (Avoid any oil-based products for a minimum of 72hrs.)
3. Do not scratch or rub the skin.
Day 2 - Re-epithelialization:
You may continue to feel a mild burning sensation over the next few days. Your skin may feel tight and itchy. You will notice a grid like pattern on your skin.
1. Wash gently with a mild soap free cleanser to ensure you are keeping your skin clean.
2. Apply a hydrating/cleansing lotion or spray for faster healing. Using a barrier cream, such as Aquaphour Healing Ointment, starting on day 2 is recommended. Use a barrier cream until the tight/itching feeling is resolved and your skin is mostly healed.
3. Do not rub or scratch the skin if itchy.
4. Day 7 you may use a mild exfoliant. Use gently.
5. If needing to go outside insure you are wearing a hat as well as SPF (minimum of 30).
6. You may treat areas with an antibiotic cream if you wish at the discretion of your physician.
After Re-epithelialization you will start to see improvement of skin texture and discolorations as well as glowing skin.
1. Continue to use a daily SPF of 30 or greater. Wear a hat when in the sun.
2. Resume your daily skin care regime. Be sure to include Hyaluronic Acid and Vit C serums for optimal results.
3. You will start to notice results around 1 week and will continue to see the changes over the next few weeks.
4. You can book your next appointment 4-6 weeks after your treatment.

4. Report all medications taken within 1 week of the treatment
5. If skin is red, irritated or sunburned, the RF treatment must be re-scheduled
6. Advise your Clinician if any new metal implants, or any other aesthetic implants and/or fillers of any kind, have been placed in the treatment area.
7. Advise Clinician if there is a chance you may be pregnant
Post-Treatment Care
1. Avoid direct sun exposure 48 hours post treatment, apply sun protection SPF 50.
2. Gently apply Aloe Vera gel to sooth the treated area, keep it well hydrated and nourished.
3. Avoid any additional heat post treatment, for a period of 48 hours
4. For 48 hours, avoid hot baths, hot showers, hot tubs or sauna’s, etc.
5. You should also resume a non-strenuous regular exercise program, but please don’t over excerpt yourself for 48 hours post treatment.
6. Drink lots of water immediately post treatment (1 Litre), and regularly 8 – 12 glasses of water daily.
